AVC Celebrates 25 years of excellence!!
In November of 1984, Dr Brian Oswald purchased an ophthalmic practice from Dr. Max Fox in Hometown, and moved it to Crestwood. Today with multiple doctors and multiple locations, Absolute Vision Care continues to meet the needs of our patients by offering new services and a new location in Manhattan!
Our newest location in Manhattan addresses the needs of our patients who are relocating further south. Our new office is located on Route 52, in the Berkot’s Market Shopping Center. The Manhattan office will offer all of our specialty services, including Cataract surgery, LASIK surgery, 24 hour emergency service, custom contact lens fitting, pediatrics/vision therapy, diagnosis/treatment of ocular diseases, and will now offer comprehensive retinal evaluation and treatment from our retinal specialist Dr. Calvin Grant. Dr Grant will be seeing patients in our Manhattan office, performing macular degeneration treatment, retina services, and laser treatments. Please ask our staff for more information on Dr. Grant’s availability. Please visit our website at www.absolutevision .com and click on “3D Eye Online” for informational videos on many ocular and retinal disorders. -- Manhattan American
Dr. Samra Hasmi joins our team offering advanced corneal and cataract treatment. Dr. Hasmi’s experience in specialty and multifocal cataract implants creates great opportunities for our patients suffering from cataract complications.
The construction process was a challenge. AVC personnel helped our evolve this location from the original bank building known to many in Manhattan, to our current state-of-the-art practice. You can click here to view pictures of the process.
Drs. Oswald, Peterson, Sowinski, Hansen, Lelis, Rassouli, Hashmi, Kovach, and Grant welcome you to our offices. Come celebrate our 25 years of service, and see what fun contests, games, and give-aways we are offering each month!! We hope to exceed your expectations!
Varilux® lpseo
What is Varilux® lpseo™?
lpseo-a latin word meaning "My Own Way". Varilux lpseo is the world's first progressive addition lens to integrate a specific individual's unique behavior (in addition to their prespcription's parameters) into the lens design for a totally custom-made PAL.
How does it work?
Extensive research has shown that head and eye movements are unique to each individual. The Varilux lpseo progressive lens surface design is personalized by freeform technology to fabricate a custom-made lens to the individual's prescription and their unique visual dynamics.
What is the Vision Print System (VPS)?
Essilor's FDA cleared diagnostic device which measures unique visual behavior of head and eye movements, and allows lenses to be individually designed to optimize a patients field of vision.
Why are the head and eye movement ratios important?
Advanced research demonstrates that the head and eye movement ratios have a direct correlation with the way the surface of the lens is used and how objects are perceived:
- Eye movements have a direct influence on perception of fields vision.
- Head movements have a direct influence on perception of swim effect

The latest addition demonstrates Absolute Vision Care's continuing commitment to provide our patients with cutting edge excellence in eye care. |
Retinal camera allows early detection of vision problems
Absolute Vision Care is proud to announce its latest acquisition of high tech instrumentation: The Digivid 2000 is a computerized retinal image system by Helioasis, Inc. The system provides instant retinal photography and the opportunity for retinal disease analysis.
The retina is the lining on the inside of the back part of the eye, which is responsible for enabling us to see. This instrument is designed to allow for the photography of the retinal through a non-dilated eye, which is convenient for the patients as well as the staff.
New diagnostic device solves big problem for Kristen
Advanced corneal mapping system evaluates front surface of eye.
Is LASIK right for you? Or have you had problems in the past with contact lenses? Well, AVC can help. We have added an advanced corneal mapping system to measure and fully evaluate all curvatures and changes to the front surface of your eye.
This high standard of care allows the doctors to create a better fitting contact lens and more closely monitor your eyes prior to LASIK and to avoid potentially vision-threatening problems.
Kristen S. came to us for a new pair of contacts. Her contacts were uncomfortable and she was only able to wear her contacts for part of the day. This was very frustrating to someone who had successfully worn contact lenses for years.
The doctors uncovered a problem, that, if left untreated, could lead to a condition called Keratoconus and make her unable to wear contacts or ever have the LASIK procedure.
Kristen proclaims, "Thanks to the doctors at AVC for catching this problem that no other office had ever noticed before. I was nervous when I first heard how serious this problem could become, but I know that the doctors at AVC will take care of my eyes and preserve my sight! My friends referred me to AVC, and now I know why, they take such great care of our eyes and my health. Thanks again AVC!"
